老版没看过。陀螺这部，影片1小时的时候男女主离开马戏团，此后开始呈现一种四平八稳的感觉，围绕着三次通灵的几场高潮戏都有些无力感，而且男主的童年阴影、弑父情结和主线结合的也不好。

4.5 陀螺这部的策略依旧是体制内相对保守的，但肌理仍旧是非常丰富的：从传统通灵到现代心理学、从男性欲望到女性主体、从黑色电影到作者恋物、从战时精神危机到当前后真相危机……形成一个自圆其说的闭环的同时，也因处在各种光影交错的过渡地带而实现了化骨绵掌式的惊人“内爆”。最重要的是，陀螺并不沉湎于过去和个人趣味，他始终在讲述现实。

其实除了个别人物动机有点模糊之外，每场戏的质感和氛围都还挺好的，而150分钟的时长也不算什么严重的障碍。问题似乎在于，Guillermo del Toro过分沉溺于每个角色和每场戏的得失，反而让整部电影的重心和节奏出现了一点问题。砍掉一些拍得不错却并非必要的戏份虽然有些可惜，但毕竟还是值得的。
7分吧，期待了两年多，还是想四星支持一下心爱的陀螺，已经是这些年拿到的比较好的本子了，老派但够黑色也极具寓言意味，非常适合他，也让他在自己擅长的怪诞领域做了充分的发挥，虽然魔兔零互动但各自贡献了很好的表演。另外美术美如画，希望今年的奥斯卡能冲一波艺术指导哇。

还是挺喜欢这个故事的。贪念不满，终其一生都在寻找心中缺失的那一部分。只不过第一幕稍微冗长了一点，应该改一下结构，把第一幕的内容交叉剪辑到主线叙事之中可能会体验更好一点。
前面40分钟确实有点劝退，冗长无味；但电影的最后几分钟，又让前面的40分钟(主要是怪胎的故事线)有了意义，就还挺奇妙的。
