导演试图通过此片来演绎津巴多在《路西法效應》一书中所揭示的“情景力量场域”及其阴暗心理，电影用相对软化的无限德州扑克赌局来替代伊拉克阿布葛拉伊布监狱中的那种场域，而男主角则是以一个耽溺于小赌养生的“创伤后自了汉”在被“唤醒”后一举卸下心防，克服魔障，自行判罚，剪除祸乱。

現在的美式甜心電影也都沒有什麼新意了，單純看顏、看道化，也膩了。雖然不用動腦子，但也是有點離譜。
